Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has extended the time limit, deadlines and procedural dates for cases affected by the arson incident of Bhadra 24 by an additional 60 days.

A large full bench comprising 19 judges, including Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut, took the decision on Sunday. The bench reviewed a report submitted by court employee Balaji Prasad Pandey and others before granting the extension.

According to Supreme Court spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala, the concession that was earlier in effect until mid-Mangsir has now been extended by one more month, up to mid-Poush. With this decision, service recipients and concerned parties will be able to defer deadlines, dates and time limits related to their cases until that period. A detailed written order will be made public on Monday.

Important documents of the Supreme Court were destroyed during the arson and vandalism incidents that occurred in Bhadra. Following the incident, the court had appealed to litigants and stakeholders to assist by providing any available copies of relevant documents.

The Supreme Court stated that this special decision, taken with the participation of all available judges, aims to facilitate the recovery of documents and ensure the smooth continuation of legal proceedings.
